I create collages on postcards, and slip them into books at the Strand Bookstore. 

 

Whenever I go back to add more postcards, I’ve been keeping a log to track if the postcards have moved. The postcards also contain a phone number that gives the stranger who finds them an opportunity to investigate the mysterious thing that they found inside the book. 

 

Over the course of the project, I’ve found various ephemera near where I place my postcards, including a card with features similar to my project hidden inside a book that was next to one of my books. Also, I’ve had several texting conversations with people who have found my postcards! 

 

What I've found has been unexpected and continues to surprise me. 

 

Next time you find yourself at the Strand, maybe the book you pick out will have a little present inside. I hope so.
